So after 2 months of not taking anything I class as good images, it was time again to adventure out with my camera. Once again adding new work to my strangers project doing my usual thing of approaching on the street. The idea of engaging more in my surrounding and the places I visit by understanding the people. I met many great and interesting people. New work on its way soon. Maybe I have the chance once again to travel the world with my camera which is something I am looking forward to doing.

::Images must be clicked and enlarged!::  Look awesome BIG!!

Peace! Much Love! 🙂 More portraits on the way

Bogota, Colombia School

A few images I forgot to upload from a school commission while I was in Bogota, colombia. It was nice walking around and meeting everybody. Not all of these will fit in to my ‘strangers’ project but I still thought it was worth the time to do a upload.

Villa De Leyva/ Iguaque

The first set of images are from a beautiful Village in the  Colombian Andes of Boyaca. A very old place with lots of history and interesting locals in the mix of things. Secondly the edge of the Iguaque national park made up of mostly farm land.

As a continuation on from my strangers series. My way of understanding the places I visit by creating a visual dialog with my surroundings. Becoming more engaged with the people I see instead of just being a passer by.

The lady bellow was originally hesitant about having a picture. Saying I could take it if i hurried up as she was late for church. I complimented her on her choice of purple.

The following are now from Iguaque. Mostly made up of fields and farm land.

It was a great experience meeting these three farmers bellow. In the tank you can see bellow is a very strong Alcoholic fermented drink called Guarapo. Made from a veg similar to potato called Tuberculo with the addition of honey and water. It was a pleasure in joining them for a drink then taking there portraits. They were hand picking potatoes.

Hope you enjoyed 🙂 Next to come is the City of Bogota

Colombia Strangers

I am enjoying Colombia so much! especially when the camera is in hand. A beautiful country of contrasts and contridictions delivering the unexpected at every turn.

The Images bellow start with a City called Cartagena then move on to a small Village called Manzanillo. As a continuation on from my strangers series. My way of understanding the places I visit by creating a visual dialog with my surroundings. Becoming more engaged with the people I see instead of just being a passer by.

Hope you enjoy. More portraits on there way! Editing at the moment.

::click to enlarge as they will look better::

For some reason this is one of my favourite portraits. A mixture of her pose and the little details like her out of place bra strap and unfinished nails.

The portraits below are from a small village called  Manzanillo. A great experience seeing all walks of life on my trip.

The bike that turned out to be my mode of transport to the next place!

Very sweet lady! Was drawn to the colours

Small details again?

This guy started talking to me. We had a interesting conversation in half English and half Spanish, with a few hand gestures thrown in. He said he was like a Women as he needed to comb his hair before I took his portrait.

Many thanks 🙂 More to come in a few days!!

Manzanillo, Colombia

Some pictures from my current on going travels in Colombia, a 4 week trip in total. The first part of this blog was taken in a small Village called Manzanillo. A good experience escaping from the big citys gaining more of a real feel for the country. The images in this blog post are focused around a general candid feel. On this trip I wanted to concentrate much more on my ‘strangers project’ breaking away from the candid approach gaining permision to take a portrait of the subject. These images will be coming in the next few days!

Now a few pictures from the City Cartagena. Once again not many as I was concentrating on my portrait series.

My ‘strangers project’ is going strong and moving along. Shot a few days ago. Trying to update as I go along. Around 27 portraits in the series so far. My final goal is a tightly edited collection of 50 portraits. Looking at the project as a whole I am definitely in need of more Women and locations to add more of a balance.

This project is my way of forcing a dialog with the surroundings I happen to be visiting. Artists statement to follow soon.

Click to enlarge images. Must be viewed high ress!

Apart from the usual people trying to extort money I found the people of Jamaica very welcoming and friendly. I went out to shoot some images for my on going ‘strangers project’. On the basis and idea of understanding the place better. Met some interesting people and made some great captures.

::please click on image as they look great in high res::

Enjoy 🙂
